Acupuncture:

a branch of ancient Chinese medicine that treats many conditions including diseases, drug or alcohol addiction, and sinus problems by stimulation of needles to directly manipulate a network along 12 major pathways or energetic meridians, connecting specific internal organs with energetic points on the network. Acupuncture regulates, or disperses Ki (also referred to as Chee, Chi, Ki, Qi, and Qui), the vital life energy that animates all living organisms, and results in a correcting and rebalancing Ki to relieve pain and restore health.

ACUPUNCTURE: Fine needles are inserted into the body at meridians or energy centres. This ‘unblocks’ or regulates the CHI energy circulating the body, which in turn, stimulates the healing process. There is a mass of Chinese research but Western science does not yet accept the principle.

ACUPUNCTURE

Acupuncture is an ancient oriental healing technique based on the Taoist philosophy of balancing energy meridians within the body, thus allowing the body to heal itself.

Fine needles are painlessly inserted at key points corresponding to body organs to relieve pain and cure disease and dysfunction. Related techniques include the use of low voltage, electric current (electro acupuncture) or massage at key points (acupressure).

Acupuncture Dictionary: Natural Health Dictionary on Acupuncture

Acupuncture: An ancient Chinese technique based on the belief that life energy flows through channels in the body known as meridians. Thin, solid needles are inserted at “reflex points” along these meridians to stimulate, disperse, and/or regulate the flow of this “chi.” The goal is to restore a healthful energetic balance as well as to treat acute, chronic, and degenerative conditions.

Acupuncture: Thin, solid, sterile stainless-steel needles are inserted into specific points to stimulate the body’s natural energy (Qi or Chi). In 1997, the National Institutes of Health officially recognized acupuncture as an effective treatment for pain and nausea.

Acupuncture

is an ancient Chinese system of healing that views health as the balance within an individual's healing energy, or chi. Acupuncturists help chi move along pathways, known as meridians, that connect various organs and systems within the body. The uninterrupted and balanced flow of energy along these meridians contributes to one's overall health.

However, blockages and imbalances result in pain and illness. The acupuncturist inserts very fine, sterile needles at specific acupuncture points along the meridians to redirect and reposition the flow of energy. Instead of or in addition to needles, small rolled-up cones of moxa, the dried leaves of the mugwort plant, are often placed on the point and burned until heat is felt.

Acupuncture: An ancient element of traditional Chinese medicine. This practice can balance the flow of vital life energy, or qi throughout the body. Practitioners insert special needles into accupoints just below the skin’s surface in order to bring qi into harmony. It can treat a wide range of diseases, help manage pain, and build the immune response.

ACUPUNCTURE: Acupuncture originated in China over five thousand years ago. It is based on the belief that health is determined by a balanced flow of qi (also referred to as chi), the vital life energy present in all living organisms.

According to acupuncture theory, qi circulates in the body along twelve major pathways, called meridians, each linked to specific internal organs and organ systems. According to William Michael Cargile, B.S., D.C., F.I.A.C.A., Chairman of Research for the American Association of Acupuncture and Oriental medicine, there are over a thousand acupoints within the meridian system that can be stimulated to enhance the flow of qi. When special needles are inserted into these acupoints (just under the skin), they help correct and rebalance the flow of energy and consequently relieve pain and/or restore health.

Acupuncture: In 1997, the National Institutes of Health officially recognized acupuncture as an effective treatment for pain and nausea. ACUPUNCTURE: Fine needles are inserted at specific points to stimulate, disperse and regulate the flow of chi, or vital energy, and restore a healthy energy balance.

The acupuncture, which puts back on an old philosophy of several thousands of years, is based on balance between the yin and the yang like on the doctrines of the five elements: wood fire, hearth, metal and water. In Occident, it is the most known component of Chinese traditional medicine. It consists in introducing fine needles on points located along the meridian lines (each one of these points corresponding to a part of the body) in order to stimulate and to rebalance the energy which circulates there.

Acupuncture Dictionary: New Age Spirituality Dictionary on Acupuncture

Acupuncture

An ancient Chinese medical system over 5000 years old, recently revived in China and becoming popular in the West.

It deals with subtle energy paths (chi) in the body related to the comic principles of Yin and Yang. The balance of these energies in the human body affects health and disease. Acupuncture therapy alters these energy flows by inserting fine needles at key pressure points, for varying periods of time. Anæsthesia for surgery can also be effected by acupuncture.
