Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib

al-Abbas ibn `Abd al-Muttalib, (566–652) was an uncle of Muhammad. married Umm al-Fadl Lubaba and is the father of Abdullah ibn Abbas and Fadl ibn Abbas. Banu Hashim (Arabic: بنو هاشم) is a clan in the Quraish tribe. Muhammad was a member of this clan; his great-grandfather was Hashim for whom the clan is named. His name was Shaiba ibn Hashim, but he became known as Abd-al-Muttalib ibn Hashim. His father was Hashim ibn Abd al-Manaf and his mother was Salma bint Amr of the tribe of an-Najjar. Shia view of the Sahaba - Ahl al-Bayt. While Sunni accept the testimony of all Sahaba as a authenticated part of the chain of narrators in a hadith, without scrutinizing them, Shia do that only for the Ahl al-Bayt. This is due to that Shia believes them to be thoroughly cleansed from all sin, as described in hadith of the Cloak. Others are scrutinizied for reliability.
