The book, often referred to by its students and followers as simply The Course, is written in first person in the voice of Jesus Christ. The Course is written in Christian terminology and its subject aims to teach how to attain the direct personal experience of God ...

A Course In Miracles: Encyclopedia II - A Course In Miracles - Publication
ACIM was first published in 1976 by the Foundation for Inner Peace, or FIP in a three volume set. In 2003, after some copyright litigation, it was determined that an earlier edition of ACIM, known as the Criswell edition, did not qualify for the same copyright protection accorded to the standard edition currently published by the FIP. This ruling was made as a result of the court's finding that a few unintentional oversights had been made ...

A Course In Miracles: Understanding Miracles

A miracle, metaphysically speaking, is never a mere coincidence - no matter how extraordinary or significant. If you miss a plane and the plane crashes, that is not a miracle unless God intervened in the natural course of events causing you to miss the flight!

A miracle is a supernaturally (divinely) caused event - an event (ordinarily) different from what would have occurred in the normal ('natural') course of events. It is a divine overriding of, or interference with, the natural order.

A Course In Miracles: Don't Quit - Miracles Do Happen

Within our hearts is the child that longs for Alladin's lamp, wherefrom the genie will pop out and grant us our every wish.

If we would only care to take a deeper look within ourselves, we might just find Alladin's lamp after all. Of course, the fulfillment of our wishes may not be as rapid as the twinkling of our eyes, but we may well be our own genie.

Miracles happen if only we let them. The entire manifestation of existence is one big miracle. The flower, the ocean, the fact that you read this are all simple manifestations of His one eternal miracle.

A Course In Miracles: What Is a Miracle?

A miracle can be defined as an event contrary to, but not a violation of, a law of nature. If 'violation' is not being used in a technical sense, then a miracle can still be described as a violation of a law of nature - where 'violation' would mean something like "contrary to what could have happened had nature been the only force operative." This article discusses the nature of miracles and how they can be defined.

A Course In Miracles: Encyclopedia II - A Course In Miracles - Comparisons of ACIM to other spiritual belief systems

A Course In Miracles - Comparison of ACIM to Christianity. According to the historical theological roots of most Christian denominations, the most favorable view is that a manuscript such as ACIM must be as an apocryphal work. Early Christian teachings recommend that such documents, at their very best, must always be considered as secondary in authority to the Bible. This official teaching of the early Christian Church regarding such writings was finally agreed upon by the Church Fathers of the fourth and ...

A Course In Miracles: Encyclopedia - Blissninny

"Blissninny" is a word sometimes used in New Age and A Course In Miracles circles to describe people who only focus on the positive things in the world and try to make others focus only on the positive. Some feel that the "blissninny" perspective often leads to simplistic thinking as well as dangerous oversights with regard to the realities of the world and what can and often does go wrong in life. A Course In Miracles: Encyclopedia - Miracle

According to many religions, a miracle, derived from the old Latin word miraculum meaning 'something wonderful', is a striking interposition of divine intervention by God in the universe by which the operations of the ordinary course of Nature are overruled, suspended, or modified. People in different faiths have substantially different definitions of the word miracle. Even within a specific religion there is often more than one usage of the term. Sometimes the term miracle may refer to the action of a supernatural being that is not a god. Then the term divine intervention refers spec ...

A Course In Miracles: Encyclopedia - Forgiveness

Forgiveness is a choice the forgiver makes to let go of resentment held in the forgiver's mind of a perceived wrong or difference, either actual or imagined. As the choice of forgiveness is made in the mind of the forgiver, it can be made about any resentment, whether toward another, oneself, a group, a situation or even one's God. Forgiveness of another can be granted with or without the other asking for forgiveness. Some believe the choice of forgiveness is only properly exercised if forgiveness is requested. Another view is that fo ...

A Course In Miracles: Encyclopedia - Cessationism

Cessationism, in Christian theology, is the view that the charismatic gifts of the Holy Spirit were for the purpose of founding and strengthening the church as it grew and expanded into the Roman Empire, thus they were in effect only during the time between the coming of the Spirit on Pentecost c. 33 AD (see Acts 2) and the fulfilment of God's purposes in history, usually identified as either the completion of the last book of the New Testament or the death of the last Apostle. This view is usually supported by reference to Ephesians ...

A Course In Miracles: Encyclopedia - Spirit

The English word "spirit" comes from the Latin spiritus, meaning breath. In religion and spirituality, the respiration of the human being has for obvious reasons been strongly linked with the very occurrence of life. A similar significance has been attributed to human blood. Spirit has thus evolved to denote that which separates a living body from a corpse, but can be used metaphorically (she performed the piece with spirit or she put up a spirited defence) where ...
