As of the census2 of 2000, there are 1,875 people, 713 households, and 518 families residing in the town. The population density is 23.5/km² (60.9/mi²). There are 933 housing units at an average density of 11.7/km² (30.3/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 98.45% White, 0.27% African American, 0.11% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.05% Pacific Islander, 0.21% from other races, and 0.91% from two or more races. 1.07% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 713 households out of which 34.4% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 61.3% are married couples living together, 7.0% have a female householder with no husband present, and 27.3% are non-families. 22.9% of all households are made up of individuals and 9.4% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.52 and the average family size is 2.95.
In the town the population is spread out with 26.1% under the age of 18, 6.0% from 18 to 24, 30.2% from 25 to 44, 27.0% from 45 to 64, and 10.7% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 39 years. For every 100 females there are 102.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 99.1 males.
The median income for a household in the town is $48,750, and the median income for a family is $53,889. Males have a median income of $35,813 versus $26,144 for females. The per capita income for the town is $20,856. 4.0% of the population and 1.2% of families are below the poverty line.
