Asha for Education

Asha for Education is a secular organisation dedicated to change in India by focusing on basic education, in the belief that education is a critical requisite for socio-economic change. It is a not-for-profit voluntary organisation with zero overhead cost (i.e. donations are not used to cover administrative expenses).

Asha for Education - Objectives

The objectives of this group are:

1. To provide education to underprivileged children in India.
2. To encourage the formation of various local groups across the world to reach out to larger sections of the population.
3. To support and cooperate with persons and groups already engaged in similar activities.
4. To raise the required human and other resources to achieve the group objectives.
5. To provide opportunities to individuals living outside India who wish to participate in Asha activities in India.
6. To address, whenever possible, other issues affecting human life such as health care, the environment, socio-economic aspects and women's issues.

Asha for Education - Response to Tsunami affecting countries in Indian ocean

Asha for Education has launched an appeal to support relief efforts in response to the widespread devastation caused by the tsunami in south India.

Asha for Education - Legal Status of Asha

• India - donations are 50% deductible under Section 80G of the Income Tax Act.
• Switzerland - Asha is registered as Steuerbefreiung Vereine under Kantonales Steueramt Zurich.
• United Kingdom - donations are fully tax exempt.
• United States - donations are fully tax deductible under Section 501(c)3 of the IRS code.
