Wah Ching (華青)is a Chinese street gang that originated in San Francisco in the 1960's. The name literally translates to "Chinese youth," and the group was comprised of immigrant Cantonese from Hong Kong banded together to combat the American Born Chinese, who would often pick on them.
Wah Ching no longer has a stronghold in Northern California, but has a presence in the Southern California area, in cities such as Rowland Heights, Hacienda Heights, and San Gabriel Valley (the "626" area). Their main enemy is Asian Boyz, and were also featured on the program, America's Most Wanted.
Wah Ching once got into a gunfight in 1977 with another chinese gang, Chung Ching Yee (Joe Boys). The event took place in the Golden Dragon Restuarant in San Francisco's Chinatown. The cause of the fight was due to vandalism to another gang member's grave.
There are also several factions or split-off of Wah Ching. The following are only a few of the many that exist: Oceanside, Sunnyside, Kenside, MP Side, etc.
