Tana Goertz - Life before the Apprentice

Goertz was the second of John and Deanna Colaizzi's five children. Her father was a salesman, and as a result, the family moved often. She spent her teenage years in Malvern and St. Davids and graduated from Archbishop Carroll High School in Radnor, Pennsylvania in 1985. She later attended Villanova University but left after one year, instead choosing to devote her time to her first marriage (she later divorced) and motherhood.

Goertz is a mother of two adopted children, the owner of several start-up companies (including an Internet Commerce website), a self-made entrepreneur, and a high-ranking sales representative/executive for the Mary Kay Organization. She started her entrepreneurship at the age of nine when she sold telephone accessories strictly in the neighborhood level.

Goertz has been married twice. Her second husband is Kurtis Goertz, a weather forecaster for the KCCI-TV television station in Des Moines, Iowa.
