Sootopolis City (Rune City ルネシティ; Rune Shitti) in the original Japanese version) is a fictional city in the Pokémon series of games. It is located in the Hoenn region. The first time one enters the city, one can only do so from underwater. Sootopolis is built in the cone of an extinct volcano. The last Gym is located here, as well as the Cave of Origin.

Sootopolis City - Wallace

The Gym Leader of the Sootopolis City Gym. Wallace is a self-proclaimed artist who uses Water Pokémon, the strongest being his Lvl. 43 Milotic.

Sootopolis City - Juan

Juan is the Gym Leader of the Pokémon Gym in Sootopolis City in Emerald version. Like Wallace in the Ruby/Sapphire versions, Juan uses Water-type Pokémon. In fact, three of his five Pokémon are the same (save for level change) as Wallace's original Gym battle team. He is Wallace's old mentor, and is filling in for him while he is champion. In the Japanese version, his name is Ardan.

Sootopolis City - Sootopolis City in the anime

In the anime, Juan is the last Gym Leader that Ash has to battle. His Gym is very stylish, especially compared to the swimming pool of the Cerulean City Gym. The Gym battle goes over two episodes.
