Prank flash - Screamers

Usually the movies begin innocuously, sometimes with a mundane image or even a simple game or quiz designed to keep the viewer's attention on the screen (such as the infamous "What's wrong with this picture?"). Sometimes the image is accompanied by audio which is kept at a deliberately low level, so as to persuade the viewer to turn up the volume on their computer. The image itself may be small to force the user to maximize their browser window. Another technique is to play a song, prompting the user to turn up the volume, with the lyrics of the song scrolling up the screen. In pranks that are disguised as games, there is sometimes a spurious recommendation on the page itself to turn up the volume, in order to hear a clue for the game.

After grabbing the user's attention, the movie is abruptly interrupted by an unexpected image, usually accompanied by a burst of sound, such as a scream or roar. The picture can range from a crude cartoon to an explicitly gruesome image, in which case the shock comes partially from the content of the picture. In most cases, the picture itself, upon further viewing, is not in actuality very scary. Therefore, in almost all of these animations, the shock comes primarily from the startling, unsettling scream, which transmit and magnify the scariness of the image and the shock itself in whole.

Prank flash movies sometimes finish with a suggestion not to follow mysterious links from strangers. On many large, corporate-run message boards, it is against the rules to post links to a screamer without explicitly flagging it as such. Some people nonetheless still follow such links through curiosity.

Although Flash is the most prevalent medium for shock animations, there are others; there is an animated GIF showing a picture of an uncleaned room, and a ghostly lady walking into the room every 40 seconds [1], and there is a prank video that pretends to be a car commercial, used by the German firm K-Fee for advertising purposes.

Also, parodies of such movies exist. One such uses a perfectly innocent smiley face as the shock object, another involves an unmanipulated photograph of Michael Jackson, and another has a poorly drawn monster accompanied by an annoying and weak voiceover.

Prank flash - Examples of screamers

WARNING: The following Flash animations are intended to shock and surprise and are not recommended for those with heart disorders or who are otherwise sensitive to sudden and unpleasant surprises. It is recommended that you keep your volume muted while viewing these.

This flash pretends to be just a slide show of very pretty peaceful photos but, after a while, a photo will come very slowly and all of a sudden it screams, and the Fatal Frame image from Kikia (see below) covers it. It's not over yet, because after this it starts doing the complete opposite, showing scary and unpleasent pictures of murders, monsters, and more, and then the image pops up again with a scream.

This is the first prank flash to be widely spread and thus provide inspiration for other similar creations. It originated on Taiwan's Kimo webhosting service from a person with the online username "Netspooky."

There is actually a fanlisting devoted to this prank flash, titled simply "Scream".

  • Frame 1 (4 sec): In a cartoon, a boy sits on a lawn gazing at the sky. Two lines of Chinese text appear. A rough translation is "Hasn't it been a long time... / Haven't looked at the sky closely..."
  • Frame 2 (4 sec): Shows the boy walking down a city street lined with buildings. A rough translation of the Chinese text is "Walking on the street... / You see..." (The first two scenes are accompanied by Utada Hikaru's soft rock song "First Love.")
  • Frame 3 (2 sec): Shows a screenshot of the game Fatal Frame during a piercing scream. It is a grayscale photograph of a ghost woman.
  • Frame 4: The yellow text "Kikia" appears. The animation does not loop.

Caution: Also contains suggestive sexual images.

This animation, sometimes known as "Subliminal Music and Images," is considered by many to be the scariest flash animation on the Internet (compare with Rubber Johnny). It has been distributed to many websites since 2002.

After loading, an advertisement for whisky is shown. After a few seconds, part of the image is highlighted and the word "SEX" is visible. An image for a flooring company appears, with a woman appearing to be touching her shoulder. The image is then flipped, so it appears the woman is masturbating herself. The song "Dinner at Deviant's Palace" by the band Cradle of Filth begins to play in reverse. The Lord's Prayer is heard along with strange noises. In the middle of the prayer, a loud scream is heard, along with a flurry of pictures; some of them are of a harlequin baby.

It is a scream flash that pretends to be a surveillance cam game to search for a ghost inside a house that was abandoned, you have an EVP monitor that will record a ghost message, sometimes you will hear "Help me." After searching a lot of rooms you will hear breathing and your screen will go snowy. After a few seconds, a ghost boy will appear and scream.

This is a mystery game where you have to find clues to see how a family of three was killed. Once you get all the clues you have to find the killer: if you don't find the killer in time he will find you and kill you, when he finds you a whole bunch of pictures will pop up. No scream, but a screech will sound. These pictures are of a puppet's face, a negative picture of the puppet's face, an eye, and a streched out mouth screaming. These also happen to be the images that appear if you beat the game.

Link: http://sugarqube.com/Ecards/CardView.cfm?CardID=1228

The "walk through" also features a blurry picture of a corpse's face that pops up with a loud screech randomly and briefly and says to turn up the volume for special audio clues.

Link: http://www.sugarqube.com/siteinfo/Walkthrough/MurderInvestigation.cfm

This flash tells you to look for a hidden ghost in each picture it tells you to crank up your speakers and turn out the lights. After looking a few times (supposedly with night vision), a girl with no face appears and screams.

Link: http://sugarqube.com/Ecards/CardView.cfm?CardID=1120

The point of this game is to shake the snowman until it throws up. After shaking the snowman several times he will throw up. Then the words, " Happy Holidays" will slowly fade up on the screen. Suddenly, the girl from the Exorcist smiling appears and screams. You can change the size of the entire flash by minimizig the sceen, thus making the shocking image much smaller. [[2]]

A popular series distributed on the internet, which show mini documentaries providing evidence of the paranormal. Most, but not all, of the movies usually stop for 5 seconds, then an image of a ghost appears suddenly, accompanied by a very loud scream. Urban Legends 3: Ghosts, is considered to be the scariest out of the series, and indeed one of the creepiest movies on the internet, but the Urban Legends series are more like documentaries than screamers. It is considered the scariest because of the ghost photography: the image of the girl in the hallway, and the "Karma Ghost," the name attributed to the woman's ghost that pops up in the cluttered room.

It starts off normally, with a warning, and goes on to show ghost photography, ghost videos, and ITC. The first screamer hints to the viewer that ghosts may be haunting their computer monitor. 10 seconds later, a ghost girl pops up very briefly and is usually unseen. The movie continues with ghost EVP, then ends with a picture of an uncleaned room. The author tells the viewer to "LOOK CLOSER!!!!!" and then a loud scream and another ghost girl pops out from the door (this is actually derived from the animated GIF mentioned above - when using a Flash seek bar bookmarklet, the girl doesn't pop up).

This flash pretends to be a paranormal activities video with ghosts and subliminal messages. It tells you that there was a death in the band Linkin Park. When it tells you to listen to one of their songs backwards, the song isn't very loud, so you supposedly have to crank up your speakers. After a few seconds a screaming girl will appear and also a picture of what looks like a demon.

Link: http://www.kreepykingdom.com/pranks/pa6.html

This screamer shows a picture of Barney the Dinosaur while his song plays, with some text saying that something is strange. After 20 seconds (soon after the words "dinosaur sensation") a negative image of a face screaming appears and a loud scream is heard. The flash is signed by a screen filled with Ha. Ha., the symbol [PP] and some laughter.

Link: http://users.cjb.net/ppworks/barney.html

A clone of the infamous "What's Wrong With This Picture?", Weasel Circus have made their own version of this prank. You are shown a picture of a kitchen. Of course, there's nothing wrong with it. But you are told there's something wrong to make you stare hard. Then, in about 30 seconds, a distorted scream is heard, along with a close up of Frankenstein's monster. You are then told, "Hope we didn't startle you too bad!" Link: http://www.funny-spot.com/html/Whats-wrong-with-this-Picture.html

  • ABC Song - The alphabet song is heard, with the letters morphing into each other. After it says "next time won't you", a flashing number 5 comes up over the whole picture with a startling "FIVE!" After clicking the 5, text comes up talking about this actually happening during a syndicated rerun of Sesame Street due to a fault at the television station broadcasting it. After clicking the screen, the Flash plays again.
  • Are You Colourblind? - Pretends to be a colorblind test, but, after answering a few questions, a picture of an infected eye pops up with a chaotic scream.
  • Beach - This screamer shows a picture of a beach, with a little girl on the corner of the picture, telling a story of a man named Eduardo Juncosa, who was brutally murdered by a tribe called the Chunquitos 70 years ago on Monkato Beach in South Africa. Seconds after the text invites the viewer to find his ghost on the picture, a computer-animated man's face with some blood on him appears with a loud scream.
  • Basement Ghost - A supposed picture of a ghost (actually, it's just a picture of someone's basement). Suddenly, a screaming zombie from the movie The Evil Dead pops up, taking up a part of the bottom-center screen.
  • Bobbing for Apples - In this game, you play as a vampire and try to bob for apples. However, after four apples are caught, a razor gets stuck in the vampire's gums, he starts screaming, and blood covers the screen. (Part of Liquid Generation's Sabotage line.)
  • Chris The Jack-O-Lantern - a (deliberately?) crudely-animated Halloween cartoon featuring a sad jack-o-lantern, who says "Hi kids, my name is Chris. You guys know what Sunday is? Yeah, that's right. Sunday is Halloween. It makes me upset. Know why it makes me upset?" Then he pauses until you click on him. Then he says, "Yeah, because Sunday is the day that..." then comes a "ghostly" cartoonish face with a rather loud scream. Chris' comments date this prank to 2004 (as Halloween fell on a Sunday that year).
  • Clock Crew Quiz - A test which involves a series of questions, all of which gives the following choices: "Strawberry Clock," "Josh Bedn," "Tom Fulp," or "George Bush." First Question: Who is king of the Portal? Answer: Strawberry Clock. Second Question: Who was the first clock? Answer: Strawberry Clock. Third Question: Who is from Canada? Immediately after the question is revealed, a very strange and supposedly ugly, manipulated photo of a woman appears out of nowhere with an eerie, scary distorted scream. The Clock Crew of the title is a reference to a group of people who make Macromedia Flash animations on Newgrounds (where this prank is hosted), with "Strawberry Clock" referring to the person who started it all [3]. This might be the oldest prank ever submitted in Newgrounds.
  • Counting Sheep - asks you to count cartoon sheep jumping over a fence while warning you not to fall asleep, but, after several sheep jump, it shows a flurry of pictures of injured sheep and sheep carcasses over a roar before cutting to the credits frame, which also has text saying "LOSER." and "OMG YOU SUCK" (as well as a button to play again) on it.
  • Dancin' Cats - Another one by Dycaite. This flash starts with, "The Amzin' Dancin' Cats!" on a stage. The curtain rolls up with Benny Hill playing in the background and women with cat heads on them " dancing" but being simply flipped around. . A scary woman with glass eyeballs and a gash pops up with a screen.
  • Darkness - This is a game with multiple shocks in it. These are a hand grabbing the screen, a ghost appearing in a mirror, a shower, (all complete with screams) and on a T.V, and a hand suddenly hitting a shower door. Plus, it has a sequel that contains a ghost that appears every ten seconds (a scream appears if it catches up to you) and its bloodied face slowy appears on the screen (a scream is also heard if gets all the way up), lights falling in the pharmacy, and a scream is heard when a key is put into a clock.
Darkness: http://online.sector.sk/hra.aspx?game=1368 Darkness 2: http://online.sector.sk/hra.aspx?game=1362
  • DeathClock Test - This "test" asks you questions and is supposed to say when you will die. After you answer all of the questions, the words "calculating..." appear, and suddenly a bloodied woman with knives in her (a screenshot from the movie, Basket Case) appears with a scream. The words "Hahahaha, sorry" appear at the end.
  • Don't Touch the Walls - This game gets the user's attention by presenting a game where the challenge is to get to the red area with your cursor while not touching the walls. There are three levels in all, and after one finishes the 3rd level, the girl from The Exorcist pops out and screams, and if you touch the wall near the end of level 3 where the level gets thin, it will still scare you. To cheat, hold down the mouse and drag it to the red area. Similar to "Steady Hand" (Down)
  • El Misterioso Juego de las Melodias - Despite being hosted on a Spanish "museum of horror" site, this supposed game of "name that tune" (in cell phone ringtone form) is in English (complete with recommendation to turn up your volume to hear the tunes, which are played at a very low volume). A grizzled man with spiky hair pops up during the third question with a short scream. Although not part of Liquid Generation's "Sabotage" line, the words "You've been sabotaged" appear along side the grizzled man as he gives the finger.
  • Escape The Spooky Room - This prank shows a picture of a rather poorly drawn room, in which you're supposed to find a way out of (like a game called "The Crimson Room" [4]). However, clicking on anything has no effect at all and, after about half a minute, a creepy shadow is shown moving across the floor. Upon waiting a few more seconds, a rather scary picture of a deformed person's face leaps onto the screen, accompanied by a woman screaming.
  • The Fact About Sajjad Ali - Uses soothing music from a Pakistani pop singer Sajjad Ali. Text appears over a picture of Stonehenge describing the song played in the flash, "Paniyon Mein", followed by some Romanized Hindi. A banshee with glowing eyes suddenly zooms out to a scream, covering the Stonehenge picture.
  • Family In Egypt - This flash is by a guy called Dan, also known as Dycaite. The flash begins with a picture of a man and a baby standing in front of a sandhill. It then begins to explain how they noticed something strange in one of their photos. Another block of text appears, and about 5 seconds later a picture from Rubber Johnny pops up accompanied by a scream. It then says 'By Dycaite XD', followed with his email address. The song in the background is "Zepp Overture" by Charlie Clouser.
  • Fright Gauge - Tells you that the "'Find the Fiend' Gauge (patent pending) is designed to measure your visual activity. Studies have shown that sight plays a major role in our ability to sense the weird, strange, and supernatural. People with higher-than-average perception skills, studies show, are more likely to notice paranormal phenomena. To test your visual activity, see if you can spot the ghost hiding in one of these windows..." The text fades, and after about 8 or 9 seconds into the "Fiend Gauge," a zombie-like face will appear with a loud scream. Then some text will appear, reading "did you see it?" and a button to play the prank over again.
  • Trick Or Treat- Starts out saying "Happy Halloween, from a friend" After this the word "Choose" comes down from the screen. There are two options,"Trick" or "Treat". When "Treat" is clicked a group of dancing dogs with funny suits appears with a funny song in the background. After this, it comes back to the "Choose" screen. When "Trick" is clicked however a zombie head, with yellow blood appears with a scream. The words "YOU ASKED FOR IT STUPID" appear with the selection to play again or send to a friend. This is part of the Liquid Generation "Sabotage" line.
  • Gamemun -This flash is a very simple one, but startling. The purpose of this one is to fool people into thinking they're going to play a game. A loading screen is shown, then a screen giving the option to choose "1 Player" or "2 Players". After either one is chosen, a female face is shown in white makeup (which can be viewed on sfogs.com) and red eyes with a scary noise. The picture zooms in and out.
  • The Hand-Eye Coordination Test - This "test" is divided into "five" parts, the "first" three involving "swatting" a fly by clicking on it (Sight & Speed Visualization), pressing buttons that flash red (Reaction Time), and following a dot tracing an "S" outline (finger dexterity). The other two parts (Perceptual Accuracy and Near Point Stereopsis) are not actually part of this flash: halfway through the finger dexterity test, a "bleeding" eye (actually a photo of a normal eye with animated red blobs simulating blood superimposed) appears out of nowhere, and a loud frenzied voice followed, "AAGGGHHHHHHH, MY EYE! OUCH! OUCH!" Part of the Liquid Generation "Sabotage" line. A good thing to note is that your percentage of Accuracy during the "S" finger dexterity test does not decrease even if you do not follow the do, and is not affected in any way.
  • Hypnotic Sequence - This game tells you that you can be hypnotized be doing this flash. After you click "Start Hypnotic Sequence," a red background with a black swirl will start to appear. In a couple of seconds, you hear a voice talking to you. After a short while of the swirl spinning, a picture of an eye with a red filter over it pops up with a loud scream. Then the words "HA! HA! GOTCHA!" appear.

(Scroll to bottom of page)

  • Madium - This animation is a parody of the Newgrounds Submission Lilium. The animation starts off with Sad Jerry, then on the next frame, the animation shows a yellow guy with an angry face. Then the next 2 frames are text with what Sad jerry says (blue) and what Madium says. Then after the second Frame, there will be a decapitated head of Sad Jerry falling along with a loud distorted scream, then there would be a [seizure] inducing clip with a bouncing cartoon head and a rectangle.
  • Optical Illusions- Starts off with the words "Optical Illusions" and a mosaic transition to an illusion. Six illusions are shown. During the sixth illusion, which asks you to look at a circle for 10 seconds, a picture of a rat with its mouth open is shown with a scary scream. Once again, this is a Liquid Generation "Sabotage".
  • Home Color Vision Deficiency Test - pretends to be an eyesight test, showing colored circles forming numbers on a backdrop of differently colored dots, similarly to a standard colorblind test, but after several questions are answered, a scream will sound and a voice will whisper "I see dead people!" along with a picture of a bloodied woman with knives in her face from the movie Basket Case.
    • Also, a "Sabotage" version of this prank exisits, except it uses the same scream from "Inkblot test." http://www.albinoblacksheep.com/flash/vision.php
  • HOT DIRTY FURRY GIRLS ( A.K.A Sad Jerry)- A Newgrounds animation that starts out with a cemetary with a soft song from Queen ( We Are The Champions) in the background. It zooms into a tombstone that says, " We all miss Jake Silvburg...rest in peace." A blue man walks up to the tombstone and sheds a tear. The screen fades out. Then it shows a quick image of the blue man cutting his wrists, and one second later, goes to a flashing black and white background with a text-based frown, an cartoon mutilated head hanging and swinging from a hook with a piercing scream. This does not loop.
  • Inkblot test - shows several commonly used inkblots, first showing the inkblots and with a button to reveal the question. Upon viewing the fourth screen showing and inkblot, the animation will abruptly cut to a genuine picture of Michael Jackson, accompanied by a scream, interrupted by a coughing fit (seemingly appropriate for a screamer spoof). Part of the Liquid Generation "Sabotage" line.
  • Jingle Bells Reversed - Plays an excerpt of Jingle Bells, then plays it backwards. A negative image of a person screaming suddenly pops up with a loud scream. The words "Hmm... It sounds slightly different in reverse. Hidden message? Who knows? I'm a bastard? Yes." appear at the end. This prank was stolen and used by eBaum's World, like many others.
  • Jessica Alba Nude - shows a picture of movie star Jessica Alba supposedly topless, although the picture loads slowly and eventually stops before the "main attraction" (all this is in fact simulated via Flash animation). After a few seconds, a female vampire from the film Fright Night pops up with a scream. This, in fact, uses the same frightening image as the screamer described below, Zoeken.
  • The London Dungeon - This video prank starts with the words "The footage you are about to see is absolutely genuine and was captured by CCTV cameras at the London Dungeon." It then says "Look very closely and you will see a mysterious ghostly figure. The video has been thoroughly analysed by experts but they have so far offered no explanation as to what it is." It then shows, what appears to be, two fuzzy seperate security camera images with the words "MAIN EXT JACK ENT" on the left and "PRIS DR" on the right. The time of 05:59:50 with the date 20-11-04 is displayed at the bottom. The image goes fuzzy for a moment and the time advances to 10:09:43. You can also see, what appears to be, a janitor holding a broom walk out of range of the camera on the left. At 34 seconds into the video a guy, wearing white makeup, jumps up and fills the entire screen and yells "YEEEAAAHHH!!". The screen then says "Did you spot it?".
  • Numa Numa Bros/Numa Numa Dance Bros - Once was a parody of the Numa Numa dance until the file was swapped with another movie. The new movie tells about the abuse of the Numa dance. He was supposedly the fifth creator of a Numa parody, and after the fifth parody, it would be a disgrace to the original. The screen lengthens out while it gives an explanition of this. When the words 'And for those who like Numa Numa parodies please..beware' appear, a drawing of green zombie face woman jumps onto the screen with a looping scream. This Newgrounds prank, unlike the Clock Crew Quiz mentioned above, is NOT for the faint of heart (that means it is rated Adult as the Clock Crew Quiz is simply rated for all ages).

  • K-Fee Auto, aka "Lexus", and "Mist or Ghost?" - a scary video disguised as a car commercial. A car is pleasantly driving along a countryside road, then disappears. Suddenly, a zombie pops up taking up nearly 3/4 of the screen, and a distorted scream plays. This is best known as a commercial for K-fee energy drinks in Germany. An alternate framing device for the video to trick viewers into watching is that this is a car commercial that was never put on TV because production noticed some ghostly white mist coming up from behind the car and then following it along the road (there is in fact no ghostly white mist to be seen).
  • The PriceRight Collection/ Showcase - An animation part of The Price is Right Collection. It shows a regular showcase run of the show but after Bob Barker says "She costs $8.47 a pound.", a creepy picture of Michael Jackson pops up. The other parts, however, are not pranks.
  • Poke The Bunny- Shows a small picture of an animated bunny with a hand next to it. Under this picture the words "POKE THE BUNNY" are in a small button. When this button is clicked, the hand pokes the bunny, but after the button is clicked several times, the bunny quickly turns around and bites the hand. Unlike most other pranks, this prank is made in Shockwave.
  • Online Hunting- Starts off making you believe that professional hunters have set up "State-of-the-Art" cameras in the woods that can be used to hunt. When you click "Play" a screen is seen with a loading screen that says things like "Connecting To Host" (Maybe to make more Convinsing?)After this an area of land is shown and a deer can be closely examined in the grass. After zooming up on it,taking a shot will result in a picture to pop up of a deer with a scream. (The deer has some kind of Satanic sybol on its head) The first scream is long, and then another little "Ahh!" in a high pitched sound will be heard. Another "Sabotage" from Liquid Generation.
  • Persistence of Vision Tester - The viewer is prompted via audio instructions to stare into a small black dot within a white background. During this time, phrases such as "Continue concentrating on the dot" appear. Two black lines appear above and below the dot, respectively, and the viewer is instructed to concentrate on these as well. Within 30 seconds, the dot transforms into a skull, and a scream is heard.
  • Say It- This one features lyrics to a bubblegum pop song, "Say It" by The Kumbia Kings, scrolling up the screen along with an excerpt from the song, before a scream and the girl from the film The Exorcist pop up.(Alternatively titled :"Watch This!" and other names of that nature.) This image can, obviously, be considered very scary upon viewing in this startling manner.

The picture that says "Polybius" near the top of the article is actually a Flash animation that occasionally will suddenly show yet another Fatal Frame screenshot, accompanied by a loud scream. The page actually gives this away, for in the part on how Polybius could be made and what should be featured, an excerpt for this part reads "Interrupting the game with a screaming horror like the one on the top of this page (which probably just cost me a few friends)...".

  • Steady Hand- from Japan, this "game's" objective is to go to the "goal" without touching the black space. The first level operates as a normal game, and will result in a game over if lost. However, on the second level, always at the same place on the course, an image of a deformed person and some scary music will pop up.

  • Taken - shows a boy watching a news report on TV about a series of attacks. The report then cuts out, replaced by a test card and the test signal. A few seconds later, a demon smashes through the window and pulls the boy through.

  • Test Your Alertness - Another flash by Dycaite, this time it asks you to read through a paragraph and pick out mistakes. After a while a picture of The Exorcist girl pops up with a scream. The words "Gotcha Bitch. ~Dycaite" appear on the screen.

  • The Counting Game - Made by Koit, this tells you to count the syllables in a long sentence, you have 1 minute to count them, when you try to type in the text box, nothing happens. However, when the timer gets between 40 and 50 seconds, a scream is heard, and a vampire monster lashes out at you, reasonably scary if you haven't worked out the trick behind it.

  • Valentine's Day - Another one in the Liquid genration sabotage line. In this one, you have to click on the chocolates in a box, and eventually you partially uncover naughty pictures of snowmen(listed on other websites.). After you click on a chocolate, it will disappear as though it is being eaten. After about 6 or 7 chocolates are eaten, a picture of a baby's body with wings and a monster head on it will pop up and scream "AHHH! I LOVE YOU!" Then a link to the site will pop up with their signature sabotage theme song.

  • Ultimate MK Outtakes/Vazz's Hidden Scene/Liu Kang - This parody of Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3, for the most part, is not a prank. However, if you press "v" on your keyboard and click on the Mortal Kombat logo in the center (this is co-creator Vazz's hidden scene), an image of Kabal unmasked appears with the scream he used in his UMK3 fatality. This is a slightly soft screamer. Also, if you check out Liu Kang's parody it shows him getting blasted by Sub-Zero in his area with ice. Then it shows Liu upper cutting Sub-Zero, shortly after a strong, loud scream is heard from Captain Kirk that appears on the side yelling "KHAN!" (a reference to Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan). This is unusually louder than the other contents in the clip. Not classified as an actual screamer but it is startling.

  • Webcam Photo - Tells the user to look into the on-screen webcam and that a photo will be generated. After 20 seconds the Crypt Keeper's face appears accompanied by a scream.

  • What is Wrong With This Picture? - Shows a simple picture of a room, inviting the viewer to look for (non-existent) errors or things out of place. After 30 seconds, a picture of a distorted head without eyes flashed in with a loud scream in the background. Some pages carrying (or linking to) the prank tell the viewer to turn up the volume to hear clues, thereby enhancing the scream even more. Other, slightly more comical versions of these exist, simply showing a man screaming on a roller coaster, for example.

  • When Will You Die? - (From the Liquidgeneration Sabotage line) A quiz that supposedly tells you how and when you will die by asking you simple questions. After these questions, it shows a box that generates your type of death, although it says the same one every time (you will die from a heart attack) then has the same box that chooses your date of death. After a couple of seconds, the words "you will die TODAY!" will appear with a loud scream that is featured in many of the other Sabotages. Then the text "Just kidding" appears, and a button that says "Get your real death date." When you click, it will start to generate your date. Below the text "You will die:", the word "NOW!" suddenly pops up, and then suddenly what looks like an elderly man spewing green liquid appears with a loud scream. This is followed by the text "You've been Sabotaged," as well as a link to the website and a button to play the prank over again.

  • Where's Waldo - shows a realistic Where's Waldo comic, then a scary-looking face appears accompanied by a loud scream. (The face is from the film The Exorcist which, ironically is used as a subliminal message when the priest is walking down the stairs). Alternatively, a harlequin fetus has also been used as the shocking image.

  • White Christmas Game - Tells you to wipe all of the fog off of the window to discover the secrets of the holidays. As soon as you click "PLAY", you have a hand in which you use it to wipe off the fog. No matter how much you wipe it off, it always comes back. During various times, you will see Santa Claus appear as a blurry figure. It will disappear if you wipe it or you just wait. On the last time Santa will be right up to the window. After a couple of seconds, a zombie Santa Claus (superimposed with an image of an evil jack frost, and a zombie santa figure holding an axe) will break through the window with a loud scream. There is a slight pause, then the zombie will scream again in a higher voice. Part of the Liquid Generation "Sabotage" line.

  • Zoeken - This Dutch prank ("Zoeken" is a Dutch word for "search") asks you to find the three differences between two (actually identical) pictures. After a short while, a picture of a vampire woman from the movie Fright Night (uses the same image as the shock item as the "Jessica Alba Nude" screamer) suddenly appears, zooming in and out a few times over a roar, before heading to the end portion with a picture of SpongeBob SquarePants and the sound of a demonic laugh.

  • Albino Black Sheep - many of the screamers linked here are available from this site, which features a whole section devoted to pranks (although some are not scary at all, for example "Handprint").
  • Sabotage - the Liquid Generation website carries many pranks (some already described above), all ending with the caption "You've been sabotaged!!!" with a link to the website after the shocking image and scream.
    • http://liquidgeneration.com/fullscreen2.asp (click on "Sabotage")
  • SubliminalMessages.com- A website that collects puzzles, optical illusions, and games. Contains some of the screamers listed here.
