Numerology: Introduction To Numerology

When I first began to study metaphysical matters and divination, the Tarot took a great deal of work and effort. I had to study others' methods and interpretations of the cards, and over time develop my own personal language of association.

 When I first encountered numerology, however, it was like I had known it all along. I immediately resonated with the meanings associated with the numbers, and had such a facility for numerological determinations that it was uncanny. I decided I must have studied it in the past, and in fact, began having vague memories of an Egyptian past life.

 The art and science of numerology has existed for thousands of years, though its exact origins are uncertain. The ancient Egyptians certainly understood the power and meaning of numbers, though the father of mathematics, Greek philosopher Pythagoras (569-470 BC), is generally credited as being the founder of modern numerology. Interestingly, Pythagoras also believed in reincarnation, and that life is a journey of lessons and challenges that lead to spiritual evolution.

 While it may seem incomprehensible or even silly to reduce personalities and destinies to mathematics, if we look to nature, we in fact see math behind all that exists. Just as colors are expressions of certain frequencies of light energy, so are numbers representative of certain vibrations, and this underlying energy is what unites All That Is.

 Numerology asserts that the numbers behind our birth dates and our names reflect certain personality traits, aptitudes, weaknesses, tendencies, talents, life goals, purposes and motivations. As with astrology, in addition to character discernment, numerology can be used to predict optimum times for certain actions, such as when to marry, travel, change jobs, etc...As one incorporates numerological understanding into one's daily life, it quickly becomes apparent that numbers reflect the natural laws that govern the human course of experience.
