Neale Donald Walsch
Neale Donald Walsch was born in Milwaukee,USA, and brought up as a Roman Catholic, by a family which encouraged his quest for spiritual truth. He studied The Bible, the Rig Veda and the Upanishads, and is best known for his series of books titled Conversations with God. The books so far in the series are Conversations With God (books 1-3), Friendship with God, Communion with God, The New Revelations, and Tomorrow's God. His newest book, What God Wants, was released in March 2005. Neale plans to write one more book called Dying with God, which will come out in 2006.
His books are claimed to be directly channelled by God and claim to help a person relate to God from a modern perspective. The God in his books, for example, says that "there is nothing you have to do". Walsch/God tries to communicate to us an unselfish god, and one that is very different to the God of Christianity and Judaism. His vision expressed is of an entirely new spirituality, in which all of humanity will come together for the common good - something which is called 'humanity's team'.
There are parallels with this philosophy and that of the Bahá'í Faith. The books have had a great appeal within the New Age subculture.
Before starting to publish these books in the early 1990s, Walsch was a radio talk show host. He was feeling very despondent at the time when he began to write the books.
In 2003, the film Indigo, written by Neale Donald Walsch and James Twyman and directed by Stephen Simon was released. It chronicled the story of the redemption of a father, played by Walsch, through his granddaughter, who is an indigo child.
"Conversations With God: The Movie" is in production. Principal photography begins November 7, 2005.
