Moe Szyslak - Love life
Moe is typically single, although he had a girlfriend once for a short time named Renee (voiced by Helen Hunt; "Dumbbell Indemnity"), as well as a girlfriend in the short "The Love-matic Grampa" and a waitress named Colette (voiced by Catherine O'Hara). However, one love he has kept true to his heart since Season 5 ("Secrets of a Successful Marriage") is that of Marge Simpson, whom he commonly pet-named "Midge." At first, Moe saw Marge simply as a cute toy whom he developed a little crush on. But, as time went on, his feelings grew deeper and more serious. Finally, Moe told Marge that he didn't just like her, but that he actually loved her, in Season 16 ("Mommie Beerest") but she gently let him down and explained that Homer will always be her true love.
Moe is said to be quite physically unattractive, which may partially account for his perpetual loneliness. At one point he got plastic surgery and landed a part on a soap opera because of his new handsome look which also made him more attractive to women, until an accident on set reverted him back to his old appearance. He also has a rather chronically bad sense of judgement (not to mention lack of tact) in dealing with females, and while participating in a bachelor's auction he said his favorite quality in a woman was one who would "take their clothes off for money." Because of his loneliness, Moe is often depressed, suicidal and mean-tempered. The suicide hotline has blocked the number of his bar. He believes that the appropriate way to react to a woman in the bar is to don a top hat.
