Metaphysics: How We Get What We GetBy Midge Steadman
At one level, we are nothing more than a bundle of squiggly energy. Everything in our universe at its essence is comprised of an electro-magnetic vibration: sky, tree, table, computer, moon and you. Scientists will verify that we are vibrational creatures living in a vibrational universe. As we become more aware of how we interact with and shape the other vibrations around us, we will begin to see how we create the events in our lives. I believe that understanding how to work with the vibrations that make up our world is one of the major reasons we're here. Once knowledge of vibratory mastery is learned, we can create anything. Part of being able to consciously work with your vibratory field is consistently keeping your mind in a "good place" because you KNOW that the Universe matches what your mind emanates. Put more simply, you know that like attracts like. Anything you think about for over 17 seconds begins to draw like energy from Source. The tricky part is remembering that. We continually forget as we are lulled into various dramas where we match our energy to what we are observing and begin drawing in the same thing. It's a good thing to remember when you're passing a car accident on the freeway; look the other way - you don't want a match. It's also something to consider when planning to view a TV documentary on breast cancer or a violent movie. This is also the reason metaphysical students are always admonished to never accept reality unless it's perfect in every way. If you focus on what is, you'll get more of what is. This is particularly important to remember if you're dealing with health issues. Our vibrations flow forth from our thoughts and our reality is the manifestation of all those thoughts. In this new century, everyone will eventually understand that the universe continually rearranges itself to fulfill our idea of reality. The outer world is actually light reflecting consciousness, but that's a discussion for another day. Our senses of smell, sight, taste and touch are ways of reading vibrational emanations. However, we are born knowing how to interpret these particular frequencies - we didn't have to learn how to see red, taste ice cream, smell lemons or feel terry-cloth, it all came naturally. Now we need to teach ourselves an understanding of the vibrational output of our emotions and how they impact the vibrational universe around us. If we concentrate on something with great passion, it manifests faster. With the current increased frequency on the planet, even a little passion can manifest. The combination of great emotional passion and this increased energy presently makes things manifest very, very fast. Watch what's happening around you - it's like magic. It's the little things that can show you the magic. You might think, "I want a bagel for breakfast, but I don't have time to stop and get one." Then you arrive at work and find that a coworker has brought you a warm, fresh poppy-seed bagel, exactly what you wanted. The coworker never brought you food before. This actually happened the other day to a friend and she was aware enough to notice the lightening manifestation that happened on her way to work. She REALLY must have wanted that bagel. Every metaphysical student knows there are no coincidences and this is a victim-free zone. What you vibrate is what you get - and what you get is what you vibrate. The Universe in every instance matches exactly the type of vibration you are radiating out. As we summon energy with our consciousness, the cells of our bodies also summon non-physical energy at all times. Our moods determine how much of it gets through. If you are getting less than your full allotment of energy, it is due to some sort of filter that you have allowed by putting your attention on something you don't really want and have unwittingly included in your vibration. Now through your focus on blame, guilt, melancholy, frustration, regret, doubt or whatever emotion you are feeling, you have caused yourself to vibrate less than your peak potential, creating a shadow between you and the Source of your unseen energy. So here you are, the cells of your body are summoning nonphysical energy and your mood or attitude is determining the amount of energy the cells are receiving. Either you are allowing or you are slowing it down by your mood. The light is shining for you at all times, but there is a shadow like a spot blocking the sun, so to speak, that creates static and a temporary slowing of your energy from Source. This shadow is not permanent reality, it's just a temporary condition of the vibration of your being. In any moment you can open the circuit, banish the shadow and allow the energy to flow by refocusing your attention on happier thoughts that feel good. At this point the shadow goes away and wellness surges forth into your being. Here is a small sample of what I mean by your mood setting the tone of your energetic vibration: Lighthearted - You're tuned up, tapped in and turned on. There is very little resistance in your vibratory field. You are in harmony with Source energy. Bad Mood - There is a lot of resistance in your field, you're not well connected to Source. You're focused on something of a lower, slower vibratory field. This mood always sees trouble right here in River City. Exhilarated - Very high vibratory field, feeling vital, enthusiastic, passionate, happy, and eager. You're very well connected to Source energy and able to manifest at lightening speed. Melancholy - Definitely not vibrating in harmony with your Source energy. Vibration slowed way down and out of alignment. Your energy and life are very flat. Annoyed - A mild negative emotion often born of frustration, which is a mix of allowing and resistance. You will manifest a patchwork result of good and less good, creating more frustration. Anger - Strong negative emotion, total frustration or depression often laced with blame, strong desire mixed with strong resistance. This feels awful. At this point, you must focus on something else. Go to movie, read a book, go to sleep, turn it off any way you can. Peaceful - Energy is in alignment, as there is no resistance, but there is no desire to pull anything in as you are content. Let me give you a small example of how energetic matching works with this little incident from my own life: It was a cold Friday morning and I'd left the house fairly light-hearted. Pulling out of the driveway, I was surprised to see a creamy soup of fog obscuring the road. Never mind, I hadn't far to go. Switching on the headlights, I carefully drove to the store. My frequency spiraled down a notch from being annoyed by the fog. Shopping done, I was in the supermarket parking lot loading groceries when I noticed a green Voyager with its headlights left on. For some reason, it caught my attention and I focused on it. I was thinking, "Gee, that's too bad, when those people come out, they are going to have a dead battery. It's such a cold, dark day to be standing around a parking lot trying to get your battery revved again - what a pity." I sniffed at the fog slightly resenting its intrusion into our thus far very gentle New England winter. My groceries were all packed in the car and I was still distracted by the van with its lights on. (This is called allowing yourself to be sucked into a drama.) I walked over to see if the door had been left unlocked, thinking I would slip my arm in and turn the lights off. No luck - door was as secure as a bank vault. I wrote down the license plate number and opted to go back into the supermarket and tell the manager. She would then announce it over the P. A. system and hopefully the owner of the van would come out, turn the lights off and save themselves from a dead battery. After notifying the manager, I walked next door to Blockbuster's to select some videos for the weekend. Fifteen minutes later, I emerged from the video store just as the owner of the Voyager was approaching her car. She saw that her lights were on, but it didn't seem to faze her. She nonchalantly unloaded her groceries, got into her vehicle, started the engine and drove away. It was at that point that I realized that the van was a new car and it would probably take a long time to run the battery down. This was something the owner was obviously aware of, and something I didn't consider. At this point, I got in my car and drove home. Please remember, if you give something your attention, long enough (anything over 17 seconds begins to draw), the universe will send you something matching what you are giving your attention to. The following morning I went out to the garage, got in the car, turned on the key and discovered I had a dead battery. I had left nothing open or on and I cannot tell you why I had a dead battery - but I did. Then I remembered all the attention I'd given first to the fog, then to the van with its headlights on to combat the fog, and my over concern for a possible dead battery. Then I understood why I had a dead battery. This is not only a good example of vibratory matching, it's also a good example of "mind your own business." Events like this must have led to the saying, "No good deed goes unpunished." It of course has nothing to do with deeds, but is a reflection of the energy you are vibrating. That's what I learned the other day at the supermarket. Midge Steadman is the editor of the metaphysical newsletter Pendulum. |
