Meditation for Beginners: The Process of MeditationBy www.vishvas.org
Meditation for Beginners: The Process of Meditation We begin the process of Meditation as propogated by Swami Vishvas Ji. Meditation is the natural, simplest and original form of meditation, very secular in nature. It is the most easy form, beyond all self efforts- a direct approach to the mind. We all have been blessed with the third eye or the Shiv Netra to look within directly. On closing the outer eyes, 80 percent of your energy is accumulated within, your awareness turns inwards and the inner eye starts looking within, automatically. As you mediate remain in the watching mode. There is total darkness prevailing inside. Do not be afraid of this darkness. This has been your own accumulation since many births. You just keep experiencing it. In this darkness, the magic of the mind usually starts. Mounds of thoughts, emotions, sensations, perceptions, judgements, plannings, illusions, expectations, imaginations, ego, ambitions of the future, memories of the past, etc. all sorts of various phenomena will be displayed by the mind's computer. You may be inundated with thoughts, the entirety of the day replaying itself, anxieties, reactions, conversations, contemplations etc. The material of the mind is like an unedited video tape. There is no logical narration, no coherent story, only a continuous sprawl of dimly related sequences, scenes and fragments. But no matter what, they are all about you, all related to you. That is the only consistency. Be a seer, be a witness to the mind's activity. Do not try to concentrate or exert any pressure on any part of the body while seeing within. Do not indulge in any doing. Do not participate in any thought. Do not even suppress any thought. Don't judge any thought. Don't try to persuade or control the mind. Let it enjoy its freedom, otherwise it will revolt and react. Do not even try to imagine or visualize anything. All these are activities and whatever you will do, it is still in the domain of the mind. Doing is the nature of the mind. It has no place in meditation. Meditation is a state of non- activity. 'Seeing' is not an activity. It is your nature to live by watching and witnessing. Simply expand your awareness and watch the doings of the mind. Be a neutral energy and watch whatever arises from the mind's surface naturally, just as you see others. As you progress in meditation, with constant watching, the mind's activity goes on decreasing and all the unnecessary thoughts start fading away Meditation is a direct approach to the mind. It is not a practice but a process- Just be a witness to the mind's play. If thoughts arise, do not suppress them. No suppression Ð no repression- no imagination Ð no concentration- no visualization- no identification. Do not participate in any thought. Do not even judge any thought. Simply, do not indulge in any doing. Instead, be an observer, be a neutral energy and simply watch the doings of the mind. This simple process of witnessing, minimizes the scatteredness of the mind. As you progress in meditation, with constant watching, the mind's activity goes on decreasing and all unnecessary thoughts start fading away. The mind does not have any energy of its own. It works in your energy. When you don't participate in the mind's play, do not even stop it, rather be a witness to its activities. The mind starts calming down gradually - you start regaining your awakening, your awareness, your mastership over the mind. You will use the mind as an instrument rather than being misused by it. Vishvas Meditation is an inner technology that works on it own, transforming the mind automatically. You do not have to do anything to enact this transformation. Certain points to remember, that will ensure a smooth journey within are: ¥ Never evaluate or analyze your meditation. Expectation is a big hurdle in meditation. Meditation for the sake of meditation will help you to be thoughtless. Seeking is the subject of the 'Future'. It keeps you in the future and steals your lovely present moments. The entire purpose of meditation is to bring you to the 'Present'. 'The Past is gone, the Future is unknown, so act in the Present.' Vishvas Meditation opens up an eternity in the 'Now'. ¥ Never compare your meditation with others. Everyone is a winner in meditation, a highly personal journey of self- discovery. The purpose of meditation is not to accomplish things but rather to realize our real self. Vishvas Meditation will soften the "Winner/Looser" aspects of competition, guiding you towards self improvement. The quality of one's existence is one's own responsibility. Transform yourself first and then you can change the world around too. Courtesy: www.vishvas.org . .
