Kyoryuu Sentai ZyuRanger - Plot

170,000,000 years ago, five ancient human kingdoms, with the protection of the Shōgozyu, coexisted peacefully with the dinosaurs. This ended when an evil witch named Bandora started a war. In the end, five kingdoms were ruined and the dinosaurs became extinct. The Shōgozyu sealed Bandora and her minions on the planet Nemesis before going into hibernation. In 1992, Nemesis returned to near Earth's orbit. Two Japanese astronauts exploring the planet accidentally released her and her minions from their prison. With Bandora free, her enemy, the wizard Barza retreated to his underground lair 2,000 metres below the apartment building where he worked as a front. There, he revived the five warriors he had been guarding, who had been in suspended animation to be awakened when they were needed. These five were each a member of the ancient human tribes, who co-existed with the dinosaurs. With the aid of the Shōugozyu, the ZyuRangers fought Bandora and her Dora Monsters.

Kyoryuu Sentai ZyuRanger - ZyuRangers

The ZyuRangers were the five greatest warriors of the ancient kingdoms. They went into suspended animation to be ready in the event Bandora escapes her prison.

• Geki (ゲキ)/TyrannoRanger: He was a prince of ancient mankind's Yamato kingdom, symbolized by the Tyrannosaurus. He was called the Seigi no Senshi (正義の戦士 "Warrior of Justice"). After the death of Burai, the Dragon Armor is succeeded to TyrannoRanger. When TyrannoRanger wears the Dragon Armor, he is called Armed Tyranno, and can generate his power three to five times higher than usual.
  • Legendary Weapon: Ryuugekiken (Dragon Attack Sword).
  • Attacks: Jump Cut, Straight Cut, V Crash.

• Goushi (ゴウシ)/MammothRanger: He was a knight of the Sharma tribe, symbolized by the Mammoth. He was the serious member and was called the Chie no Senshi (智慧の戦士 "Warrior of Wisdom"). He had an older sister named Otome, whose death by Bandora made him vow to avenge her.
  • Legendary Weapon: Mothbreaker.
  • Attacks: Power Crush, Mothbreaker Change Attack

• Dan (ダン)/TriceraRanger: He was a knight of the Etof tribe, symolized by the Triceratops. He was a flirt and was called the Yūki no Senshi (勇気の戦士 "Warrior of Courage").
  • Legendary Weapon: Triceralance.
  • Attacks: Jump Attack, Triceralance Typhoon

• Boi (ボーイ)/TigerRanger: He was the youngest of the team and a Knight of the Daim tribe, symbolized by the Smilodon. He was called the Kibō no Senshi (希望の戦士 "Warrior of Hope").
  • Legendary Weapons: Saber Daggers
  • Attacks: Pinpoint Thrust, Saber Daggers Lightning Shoot

• Mei (メイ)/PteraRanger: She was the only female member of the team and princess of the Rysha tribe, symbolized by the Pteranodon. She was called the Ai no Senshi (愛の戦士 "Warrior of Love").
  • Legendary Weapon: Ptera Arrow
  • Attacks: Turn Off Attack, Rolling Arrows

• Burai (ブライ)/DragonRanger: Another warrior who was in suspended animation in a cave outside of town. He was resurrected by Gnome's' grandson and attacked the ZyuRangers. Geki soon learned that Burai was his older brother, the son of the Black Knight. Their father, the Black Knight, was a prideful man who showed utter disrespect to his monarch, Yamato King. The childless King, rather than executing him, penalized the Knight with his younger son, Geki, adopting the boy as his heir. Black Knight was unable to come to terms with this loss and led a rebellion to take back Geki only to be killed in a duel by the Yamato King. Burai, witnessing his father's death, swore revenge by stealing the Yamato kingdom's Dragon Armor treasure and vowed to kill his younger brother. Burai eventually made peace with Geki and joined the team, helping every once and awhile. It turned out that Burai's life was limited; his sleep chamber had caved in and crushed him, but the gods had brought him back to life because his Dragon Caesar would be needed by Zyuranger. When he eventually died, he gave Geki his Zyusouken (to summon Dragon Caesar) and the Dragon Armor. He was called the Chikara no Senshi (力の戦士 "Warrior of Power").
  • Legendary Weapon: Zyusouken (Beast Play Sword). The Zyusouken can be used by Burai to command and control Dragon Caesar.

• Dinobuckler: Each Ranger wears a Dinobuckler which is a detachable golden buckle placed on each ZyuRanger's waistband. The Dinobuckler is two-sided: the folded grip-side is out before the ZyuRangers transformation, and the side showing the golden medallion on which the figure of his/her own Shōgozyu is carved after. Before the transformation, the Dinobuckler can be used in battle as a knuckle cover. The golden medallion is the vital source of ZyuRangers power; it stores Gaiatron energy, a mysterious and perpetual power-source derived from mother nature. With its internal energy, the medallion also has the power to heal a wounded person. While inside their Shōgozyu, the ZyuRangers can turn their medallions into Dynocrystals which help in the tranformation process of Daizyujin and Gouryuujin.

• Ranger Stick/Gun/Sword
  • RangerStick: Emits shock waves from the tip to electrify enemies.
  • RangerGun: Fires strong Gaiatron lasers.
  • RangerSword: Powered with super-frequency energy of Gaiatron.

Other than being used individually, the Ranger Sticks are used together in the Babel Attack. The five ZyuRangers form a tower, bring the tips of each Ranger Stick toward the center, and then shoot the combined, powerful shock-wave.

• Thunder Slinger: Obtained in #29, the Thunder Slinger, is a slinger-shaped blaster, and is a common weapon for the Rangers. By pulling and releasing the energy shaft in the back of Thunder Slinger, the ZyuRangers can shoot the energy arrows from the upper muzzle and smash enemies. They can also shoot paralysing beams from two lower muzzles.
  • Ranger Slinger: Each Slinger can be combined with the Ranger Gun to form a mightier blaster called Ranger Slinger. When the ZyuRangers shoot their Ranger Slinger simultaneously to the target, the combined attack is the Ranger Slinger Final Shot, which brings critical damage to enemies, even to giant-sized Dora Monsters.

• Howling Cannon: When the five Legendary Weapons are combined, the Howling Cannon, a powerful bazooka which can easily demolish a multi-storied building, is formed. The Howling Cannon is often used to bring critical damage to normal-sized Dora Monsters.

The ZyuRangers own three special motorcycles called Zaurer Machines. The Zaurer Machines are,

• Roadzaurer 1: motorcycle for Geki/TyrannoRanger. It is equipped with a powerful machinegun in front, and can run up to 320km/h.
• Sidezaurer 2: motorcycle for Goushi/MammothRanger, with a sidecar for Boi/TigerRanger. It is equipped with two mini-cannon in front, and can run up to 280km/h.
• Sidezaurer 3: motorcycle for Dan/TriceraRanger, with a sidecar for Mei/PteraRanger. It is equipped with two mighty machineguns in front, and can run up to 300km/h.

Kyoryuu Sentai ZyuRanger - Allies

• Barza (バーザ - Baaza) - He was the immortal wizard who looked after the ZyuRangers during their long sleep. He worked as an apartment manager in the building above their resting place. He was known as the Priest of Snow.

• Gnome - He was an old friend of Barza, and the holder of Burai's key. He hoped that Burai would simply die inside the cave so that he would not be unleashed upon the world.

• Ryota - Gnome's grandchild. 170 million years ago, Burai saved him from a rock that threatened to crush him. In the present day, he took Gnome's key, and unsealed Burai, against his grandfather's wishes.

• Klotho (クロト - Kuroto) - the goddess of fate. When the ZyuRangers went into suspended animation, Burai followed them in his own chamber. However, the ZyuRangers had Barza to look after them while Burai had no one. This proved tragic as an earthquake caused the cave where Burai was sleeping to collapse, crushing the helpless Burai to death. Daizyujin asked Klotho to restore Burai's life, because the ZyuRangers would need his Dragon Caesar. However, his life force was limited. Soon after Burai was revived, and after he betrayed Bandora, Klotho took him to the Lapseless Room and gave him the Zyusouken. Klotho told him he had about 30 hours left, and left him with a green candle that would represent his remaining life force. The Lapseless Room is a chamber were time stood still, and every time Burai went out to aid his brother a portion of the candle would melt away.
