Jamshedji Navroze: Nothing's Impossible When God is Present - about Jamshedji Navroze  

Today, as the vernal equinox bathes the universe in a golden glow and Spring dances in seen and unseen splendour, it is amply clear that once you are with God, everything's possible.

Today is Jamshedji Navroze , the original new year. It is celebrated by Parsees today - as it was by the people of ancient Iran - with good reason. The day marks the birth of Creation and therefore, your birth and mine too. It also celebrates Prophet Zarathushtra's profound pronouncements, the beauty and truth of which I've gleaned with my own limited vision from the scriptures.

I am proof that anything's possible, proof that when the Holy Word is adhered to in even small measure, big miracles are possible. I was a mangled mass of all that was un-Zorastrian. Then I learnt that those who walk with faith, not sight, reflect miracles; become miracles.

A golden lasso was thrown and with some soul-sweat I came to be here, on the other side, where for a large part, or the most part, happiness is inevitable.

I learnt that anything is possible once you are with God. Zarathushtra taught this to me, through life. I learnt a few simple lessons which reduce all of life's most savage difficulties: That one of the worst things in a person's life is the absence of spirituality - this is the root cause of our ills. We do up one room with one random prayer and then another one falls apart because we try to build happiness in a totally wrong manner. God's mansion stands on total spirituality; it is the most basic thing a human life needs and yet, our lives lack spirituality.

I'm appalled when people are so careless about something that's evidently worth pursuing. You can't get anywhere if you aren't spiritual; the worst pains today stem from this, including the unexpected savage stab the death of a loved one brings. People hurt not because they are not prepared, but because they are not informed. So many centuries of existence and yet, people walk the earth without knowing.

One of the worst things is fear. Fear reduced my life to a state of nothingness. To millions today, fear is a very real thing. To them, I repeat what Eileen Freeman's angel Eniss said to her, reproduced in her book, Touched by Angels: ''There is nothing to be afraid''. Note, the angel did not say that there is nothing to be afraid of; the angel said, there is nothing to be afraid. Fear paralysed you; let it no more. On its birthday, the universe has granted you a gift: It has swallowed your worst fears.

You are free as you read this. This is what spirituality is all about: Spirit in motion, one breath of faith and we are delivered from lifetimes of karmic debts.

We can renew anything in our lives; that is why we're given this chance, this life. We are divinely assisted; more help than we know is at hand; we lose sight of our goals, we lose sight of what we came to do here, we get caught up in a world that will only make us spin faster and further away from the beauty of God's truth.

We lose alertness, spiritual discipline, focus - and another lifetime goes by Zarathushtra taught me that life is sacred; it has to be lived with purity, precision and passion. But again, they who don't have the basic necessity mentioned earlier will never know the worth of the words: ''God is everything''.

With prayer aided by sacrifice, anything is possible. The key turns in paradise's door with only one thing: Sacrifice. Want what only God wants for you to have. Become a servant of your Father; He will let you roam in his orchard and pick any fruit. We are yet to tap even a fraction of God's love for us. We're sitting in the midst of the most beautiful gifts but we want our petty, ugly, small presents.

We are denied God's greatest beauty because we are still so consumed with animalistic longing for all that is merely human.

Today is a chance to break-free from the old, to commit to the new, to ask right here, right now, for some singing angel or bird of paradise to descend and lead you to an enchanted place where everything is good for you and your loved ones.

You will be blessed, if only you seek blessings. You will be led, rocked, loved, caressed; you will not only see a miracle in your life, but will be able to make miracles happen for others too. The only person keeping you away from all your dreams, desires and destinations, is you. God is waiting for you to make this one connection.

The world is His playground, He will never deny you, His child, any of its joys. You will have more happiness than your heart and mind will be able to hold. One kiss on our Father's face, one pledge by our Father's knee, and you can run to where you want to run. But first, please be your Father's child. Parsees learnt this from Zarathushtra: We are born only to become God's children.
