According to Feng Shui experts, bamboos are one of the hardiest plants, which is why they are symbolic of good health besides being decorative.

There is a new craze among South Delhiites these days... and, it has got nothing to do with clothes, gizmos, jewellery or accessories! In fact, these days it's the lucky bamboo craze that is sweeping the town.

Not to be left behind, most of the florists and Feng Shui shops are giving the lucky bamboos front row display, to catch the attention of the willing South-Dilliwallahs.

This Feng Shui indoor plant, imported from Taiwan , grows in water like a cut flower and lasts for years. "I love having green plants at home but they require so much care, for which I hardly get time.

So, when the florist told me that lucky bamboos would not require much maintenance, and that I would have to change the water just once a week, I bought them. If they also bring good luck, better for me," says Aarti Taneja, an executive.

Dancing, curly and pyramid are the various kinds of bamboos that one can get in the market. A single stick of dancing or curly bamboo costs between Rs 250 and Rs 350, depending on the length. The price of the pyramid bamboo depends on the number of layers of bamboo.

The normal two-layer bamboos come for Rs 250 and the three-layer ones come for Rs 350. Sanjay, owner of Fragrance flower boutique says the dancing bamboos are the most popular.

Seeing the rising popularity of bamboos , most florists have come up with innovative designs to attract buyers. Now, instead of buying the single stalk and wondering where to put it, you have the option of buying a readymade cluster of your choice, placed in a crystal vase and decorated with pebbles to add zing. Such decorative arrangements come for Rs 900 and can go up to Rs 2,000 and above.

"Did you know that in ancient China it was customary to give a lucky bamboo to bring good luck? And, that is why I am thinking of gifting all my friends a bamboo each," says Suniti Chauhan, who has stocked up on bamboos at her home.

It is believed that three stalks attract happiness, five attract wealth, seven get you good health, and twenty-one stalks offer a very powerful all-purpose blessing! With so many benefits and so little maintenance, lucky bamboos are the perfect way of not only decorating your home but also bringing in some good luck.
