Enlightenment: Why is Enlightenment necessary?

Bhagavad Dharma, a set of revelations given by Sri Kalki Bhagavan, a contemporary spiritual Master, takes a holistic view about the various problems afflicting man. Every problem confronting man has 2 causes, the primary (root) and the proximate (immediate). Holistic addressing of any problem requires us to look at both of these eg. if a person has got a cold and a headache, the immediate cause could be the changing climate, a sleepless night or exposure to rain. If the problem persists even after treatment, one may have to look deeper into subtler reasons. The problem could be psychological; because of some insecurity about the future or some relationship problem.

You are standing on the bank of a river and you suddenly hear the cry of a child. You see a child drowning. You save this child and see another child drowning. You save the second child and see a third one. The immediate action here is to save the drowning children. But then it becomes necessary to see the cause for so many children falling into the river. One needs to go backwards from the problem to identify and address the root causes.

Likewise all the problems faced by man, whether physical, psychological, social or economic have associated root causes to it. Though we may have to deal with the immediate cause and use certain preventive measures, the ultimate solution will come only when we look at the primary cause. Enlightenment alone can lead to dissolution of the suffering state of man.

For the world to be a joyous habitat free of suffering, people must be happy. Happy people do not cause suffering. Happy individuals make a happy community. But what constitutes a happy person? One, who does not TRY to love, does not TRY to care. He spontaneously cares and is sensitive, full of feeling. This spontaneity can come only to a person with high energy levels (positive energy). Energy is possible when there is no conflict and confusion.

But unfortunately there is only conflict and chaos in the modern world, a world that seems to be fast disintegrating. A natural consequence is the disintegration of human beings into individuals. The word “Individual” intrinsically means “indivisible”, but today there is division between nation & nation, people and people, community and community. There is a vast division, a crowd within each of us. This crowd is growing. The kind of books we read, the kind of food we eat, the work we do, the media we watch; effectively our entire lifestyles are only augmenting our division. When we go to a shop to buy soap, there is so much variety that we cannot decide what to take; the same thing with clothes, jobs, movies, food etc. You like to have some food but it is bad for you… You buy a television set but are unsure of its impact on your kids. There is conflict in every touch, a struggle in every effort. There is no harmony anywhere, no sense of fulfilment. Society has become sick. Hence the psychiatric problems, depression, insecurity, suicides and so on. Conflicts make people less humane, with hearts becoming barren, bereft of any feeling.

No energy remains a person bereft of energy, cannot care, love or share. Families remain in name only, no relationships anywhere. The routine work, the hectic work makes a person so tired and exhausted that he no more has the energy to love !!!!! (eg : A decision to admit your child in a school gets riddled with conflict, uncertainty. Whether to cater to the creative freedom or to the discipline of the child. The conflict does not cease even after the admission. You are always unsure. The lack of energy has made us into living corpses, withered beings. We cannot respond to the harmonious call of nature, go to a quiet place, sit and listen to the birds chirping, watch at children playing. Even switching on the television is a conflict, we go on switching channels; don’t stay focussed; so much stress and tension - an unsettling restlessness.

The only solution for man is to return to his individuality - where he gets insights, learns about the principles of the universe and awakens his energies through meditations. This results in the INTEGRATION OF THE INDIVIDUAL - a spiritual OCCURRENCE, not wrought about by struggle or effort, but through the Divine realms of GRACE…

Conflict dissolves in integration, there is more energy, an ability to love and care for others naturally. You are happy and therefore make the world around Happy!!!
