Daniel Peter | | Daniel Peter: Encyclopedia - Daniel Peter | | | Daniel Peter (1836-1919) was a famous Swiss chocolatier. He began his career as a candle maker, but soon demand fell due to the emergence of oil lamps. He invented the process of making milk chocolate. He had a problem with removing the water from the milk (which caused mildewing) and with the cooperation of Henri Nestlé, a baby food manufacturer, he was able to finally bring the product the market in 1876, after eight years of working on it. Later, in 1879, the two went on to form the Nestlé Company.
