the cross is derived from Mitraism and ancient Persian Empire era whereby they were considering sun ,water, land,wether as the four main element and sun, SARV (green tree) , cow and horse as holly things the Cross (+) was symbol of sun and it was put on the grave tombs to keep the tomb safe and shine . the oldest and biggest ever man made Cross,had been built in in Persepolis and Nakshi Rustam near the Kaaba of Persians .

please see the cross shape of the toms of naghsh e Rostam . this huge cross 2500 years ago was called by Persian as chelip and Arabs then arabicized it as * celib* . and now in Persian and arabic word celib is used instead of cross. the cross + was symbol of sun (God) by Mithraian . Hence, the current Christ cross have roots to ancient persia and mithraism . clik this for the oldest and the bigest cross in the world .

Some of the earliest images of crosses were found in the Central Asian steppes, and some were found in Altay. The cross in the old Altaic religion called Tengriism symbolizes the god Tengri; it wasn't an elongated "dagger" cross, instead resembling a plus sign (+).

The first Christian books from Armenia and Syria contained evidence that the cross originated with horsemen from the east, possibly referring to the first Turkic people.
