Corner-person: Encyclopedia - Corner-person

A corner-person(also known as a corner-man or simply corner) is a combat sports term for a coach or team mate assisting a fighter during the length of a bout. The corner-person remains outside the combat area during the fight, but in close proximity, and can assist the fighter through instruction. Often this instruction takes place inbetween rounds such as in boxing. Cut man is another boxing term for this person, since they will often render first aid between rounds: inspect cuts, apply ice to reduce swell
