Ashoka Jahnavi-Prasad ( A.J.Prasad) is a behavioral scientist who was the first to postulate that neuroses have a biological basis. He edited the book Biological Basis and Therapy of Neuroses which expounded on this fact. Around the same time, he suggested sodium valproate as a safer treatment alternative in bipolar disorders to lithium salts, the most popular treament at the time.
He was elected to the Foreign Fellowship of the prestigious American Academy of Arts and Sciences in 1982 and remained the youngest member for several years.
