Ancient Healing Device - The Tau'ri's first encounter with the device

The Tau'ri's first encounter with the device was when Dr. Daniel Jackson and Dr. Lee went on a mission to find a the device in South America. They found it after following information which Daniel's grandfather Nicholas Ballard left (during his Archeological career). This information said, "All water flows towards it." After walking down a stream and past a waterfall, they entered a chamber. They were able to locate the device in the chamber after pouring water about. The chamber was also booby trapped to flood if the device was taken. However, Jackson and Lee survived this trap.

Only minutes after finding the device, Jackson and Lee were kidnapped by a group of terrorists. Jackson and Lee were soon after interrogated about the device. After they refused to reveal anything, the terrorists experimented with the device and figured out how to activate it. A dead man a great distance away (whom the terrorists had killed earlier) was revived not long after the device's activation. However, upon his resurrection, he became deranged and shot at everything he saw and was rather resilient, taking many bullets before dying again (he is even revived a second time, see "Evolution"). This man was a clear indication that the device had psychological effects similiar to the Sarcophagus and was powerful enough to heal across great distances.
