Air North
Air North Yukon's Airline is an airline based in Whitehorse, Yukon, Canada. It operates scheduled and charter services throughout the Yukon and Northwest Territories, with extensions to Alaska. Its main base is Whitehorse International Airport.
Air North - History
The airline was established and started operations in 1977 and used Douglas DC-3s and a Douglas DC-4 until recently. It is owned by Joseph Sparling (51%) and Vuntut Development (49%), an arm of the Vuntut Gwitchin First Nation.
Air North has special clearance from NavCanada to land with a 1/4 of a mile visibility. This is especially vitial to service during the winter months when ice fog often accompanies temperatures of -40°C and lower.
