• January 20 - The President of the United States of America (elected November 6, 2012) will be inaugurated.

• The Tour de France will be competed for the 100th time. Despite the first running being in 1903, a total of ten races were cancelled during World Wars I and II, so when the race celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2003, it was actually only the 90th time it had taken place.
