London 2012 Olympic bid - Dates and timing.
The London 2012 bid proposed that the Games take place between Friday 27 July 2012 and 12 August 2012. This was chosen to coincide with the best weather and with school holidays, with the theory being that the demands on the facilities in London would be lower when schools and universities were closed. It would also allow younger people the opportunity to attend the events.

Paris 2012 Olympic bid - Dates.
If Paris had been selected, the Games would have proceeded from July 27 to August 12, 2012. The paralympic Games would have been from August 29 to September 16, 2012.
For the candidacy of Paris, the Paris 2012 committee drew up a complete project which describes the Olympic village and the 31 sites which would accommodate the Games.

2012 Summer Olympic bids - Bid evaluations.
The deadline to submit a bid for the 2012 Summer Olympic Games was 15 July 2003. All nine cities that submitted bids before that date also met the 15 January 2004 deadline for the 50-page questionnaire. The committee gave a weighted average score to each city based on scores in eleven categories, such as finance, security, accommodation, past experience and transport.
