2012
is by many separate sources of wisdom seen as being a portal into what
some people call the Golden Age. 2012 marks, according to the The Mayan
Calendar, the ending of Time as we know it and as something old die
something new will be born. The Mayan perspective of 2012 and the
current times we live in is very similar to the view of Kalki and the
Golden Age Foundation who is also co-organising the Oneness Festival.
The concept of a coming Golden Age is widely recognised among many spiritual authors, spiritual traditions and teachers.
"I think that by 2012 you will have people that are enlightened (open,
honest, caring, loving, united to the divine) and those that still seek
humanity's lower natures (suffering, misery, hate, separation from the
divine) but at least the scale may be tipping more toward enlightened."

He began his studies on the Mayan calendar in 1979 and now lectures throughout the world. "The Mayan Calendar provides an exact schedule for the Cosmic Plan and the unfolding of all things that come into existence. There is now ample empirical evidence for this, something that shines new light on the age old questions of mankind. Things do exist for a reason. The reason is that they fit into the divine cosmic plan. For those that seriously engage in a study of the Mayan Calendar this soon becomes evident and the former materialist world view loses all relevance. The Mayan Calendar is a gateway to the worlds of consciousness which the majority of humanity has been blinded to through the use of false or delusory calendars.
...What it does say is that step by step there will be a change in consciousness in the current Galactic Underworld that until October 28, 2011, will make Enlightenment a state that is increasingly more easily attained."

We are in a state of
unbalanced development, lacking on the spiritual side. Therefore, to attain
what is missing -- peace, harmony and brotherhood -- it is necessary to realize
that the entire universe is the creation of God, that all life is one, and that
all are children of love. This realization is spiritual; it is not intellectual
comprehension of an ideal.
Detachment is a great wealth. Devotion is the real asset in life. Why does man not work for such a wealth? This is due to the fact that the mind has not been purified. Impure mind craves impure things.
Mantras help us to purify the mind and uplift the quality of life. Mantra yoga is all about working on purifying the mind. The object of yoga is to lift a person off the psychological mess he rests upon.

Kundalini Yoga Ð In this style of
yoga, the spine is regarded as a snake. It was brought to the West by Yogi
Bhajan in the late 1960s. The practice concentrates on releasing the Kundalini
energy which is found at the base of the spine. Kundalini Yoga includes a
series of classic poses and chanting. The emphasis however, is not on the Asana
but on the chanting. Spiritual transformation is the main aim of practice.

Experiences by Sarasvati Buhrman PhD - Part I
Sometime
after 350 B.C. a great yogi sage wrote the "Yoga Sutra". This brief
translation should wet your appetite. This describes the transformation of mind
that will unfold over a course of sadhana (spiritual practice), focusing on the
relationship between the mind and the object of meditation.

To think wisely, the mind needs to undergo a purification process. Mantras help us to purify the mind and make full use of the intellect.
Once, an oyster tried to distract a pearl diver. With great effort, it placed a loose pearl on a leaf on the ocean bed. The pearl diver, however, did not see the pearl - he caught the oyster. We don't know where to look and we become a victim of our limited knowledge.

Chanting mantras inspires the body to heal itself, the mind to become calm and the soul to grow strong. Chanting makes room for divine energies. Mantras are vibrations - they unlock hidden centres and help to dissolve the ego; they help us build invisible tools for shaping a better life. We start discovering resources within.
A young farmer, simple and ego-less, was rearing goats. One day a realised soul in ordinary attire visited him. The poor farmer welcomed him with respect without knowing that he was a great guru. Affectionately, he offered goat milk to the visitor. The guru left after some time. His blessings created a great spiritual armour around the farmer, unbeknownst to him.

Nadi: A channel in the subtle body through which prana and kundalini flow. The channels loosely correspond to the central, sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems. Nadi also refers to the normal veins and arteries of the physical body.
Patanjali’s Yoga Sutra forms the basis of all yoga that is practised today. It contains knowledge which is useful for all, whether one is an evolved yogi, a developing sadhaka or an uninitiate.
In the Astanga Yoga, the eight constituents of yoga are discussed. Of these, the first constituent talks of the five Yama. These are the restraints every human being is advised to practise in day-to-day living.
