 | | | 2003: Encyclopedia II - Cadillac CTS - 2003Introduced in 2002 for the 2003 model year, the CTS rode on General Motors' new Sigma rear wheel drive architecture. It was a return to rear wheel drive, as well as being the first Cadillac with a manual transmission since the 1988 Cimarron. It replaced the compact rear wheel drive Catera, with some positing that the CTS name stands for "Catera Touring Sedan", just as the larger STS is the replacement for the Seville Touring Sedan. The CTS was nominated for the North America ...

 | | | 2003: Encyclopedia II - Mercedes-Benz SL-Class - 2003As the new millennium approached, the SL was a decade old and customers were turning to more modern cars like the Jaguar XK8, but there was still no denying the Mercedes exclusivity. The impressive equipment list kept getting longer as the years passed, as did the £50,000+ price tag.
In 2003, an all-new SL (initially just a 5.0 L SL500 version) went on sale, boasting the "Vario-Roof", an electric folding steel roof which had been seen on the smaller, cheaper SLK in 1997. A 5.0 L 302 hp (225 kW) V8 was optio ...

 | | | 2003: Encyclopedia II - Mitsubishi Galant - 2003The United States has had the sedan-only ninth-generation PS platform model since 2003, announced at the New York International Auto Show in April of that year, for the 2004 model year. Other markets did not see it till much later. One of the first markets outside North America to get it was the Republic of China, which launched the Galant Grunder in December 2004, with a (so far) unique front end. All new Galant engines come with new GDI or gasoline direct injection engines. Mitsubishi was the first car manufacturer to commercially use the GDI or stratified charge engine.
