 | | | 1992 albums: Encyclopedia II - Dog Eat Dog music album - Production and marketingWarrant began recording bass and drums for Dog Eat Dog in Los Angeles, California in February 1992. Overdubs were recorded at Morrisound Studios in Tampa, Florida, in March 1992. The record was mixed in at Scream Studios in Studio City, California in April 1992 with producer Michael Wagener.
Apparently conscious of the widely circulated rumour that Joey Allen and Erik Turner had not played on the first two Warrant records, the band had Wagener include a statement in the liner notes that "no artist, except those li ...

 | | | 1992 albums: Encyclopedia II - Countdown to Extinction - SongsThe band's change in musical style meant that many songs on the album follow a more traditional structure, with verses and choruses (unlike many of the bands previous albums). This format change was unpopular with some fans at the album's release, however the album turned out to be one of the band's most commercially successful.
Like its predecessor, many of the songs on the album have political and military undertones. For example, "Symphony of Destruction" is a song about military dictators, "Architecture of Aggression" focuses on t ...

 | | | 1992 albums: Encyclopedia II - No Doubt album - BackgroundBy mid-1991, No Doubt had been together as a touring band for about three and a half years. During that time their line-up had changed considerably, with co-founder John Spence having committed suicide two years earlier. Despite this, the band had managed to build a strong reputation in Orange County, California, and signed a record contract with Interscope Records.
The band members (Tom Dumont, Tony Kanal, Eric Stefani, Gwen Stefani and Adrian Young) spent less than $13,000 in the process of recording their debut album, featuring bot ...

 | | | 1992 albums: Encyclopedia II - Your Arsenal - About the albumCommencing with the blistering "You're Gonna Need Someone on Your Side", the album represents a clear change in direction for Morrissey from pop to modern rock. It also features some elements of rockabilly.
Some tracks from the album were lyrically controversial, although much of the controversy was stirred up by the New Musical Express, who had turned violently against Morrissey by this time. "Glamorous Glue", though a personally conflicted and ambivalent song, was accused of anti-Americanism, while the similarly ambiguous "We'll Let You Know" was accused of defending football hooliganism. For the controversy s ...

 | | | 1992 albums: Encyclopedia II - Good as I Been to You - The Recording SessionsSince launching the 'Never Ending Tour' (NET) in June of 1988, traditional covers became a feature at virtually every concert, often as part of an acoustic set. After recording Under the Red Sky in 1990, Dylan would not release an original song until 1997, and during that time, he would increasingly rely on his stockpile of covers for 'fresh' material.
According to Dylan's friend Susan Ross, Good As I Been To You began life as a contractual filler. Dylan had scheduled two weeks at Chicago's Acme Recording Studio sometime ...

 | | | 1992 albums: Encyclopedia II - Good as I Been to You - The SongsWithout the use of notes or lyrics, Dylan recorded a wide range of traditional songs. "Froggy Went A-Courtin'," "Blackjack Davey," and the anti-redcoat "Arthur McBride" were part of the British and Irish tradition of folk songs. "Little Maggie" was a popular bluegrass standard. "Diamond Joe" was well-known thanks to fellow folk revivalist Ramblin' Jack Elliott. "Frankie and Albert" and "Sittin' on Top of the World" both had long, deep roots in folk-blues.
Dylan also covered songs that weren't authentically traditional, such as "Tomorrow Night" (best known for Lonnie Johnson's hit ...

 | | | 1992 albums: Encyclopedia II - No Doubt album - Trapped In A BoxAfter the disappointing sales of No Doubt, Interscope did not wish to finance the release of a single from the record. However, the band financed the shooting of a video for the song 'Trapped In A Box' out of their own pockets. Roughly $5,000 was spent on it, and the band hoped that MTV would feature it on their channel. However, it was never aired.
In 2003 the video was released on the Boom Box box set.
