 | | | 1985: Encyclopedia II - Ford Scorpio - 1985Engineering-wise, the 1985 Scorpio was heavily based on the Sierra, sitting on a stretched version of its floorpan, and using a similar styling philosophy set by both it and the third generation Escort. Under the hood were well-proven power units, starting with the venerable Pinto unit in 1.8 L and 2.0 L capacities, and the Cologne V6 in 2.4 L, 2.8 L and later 2.9 L editions. The Scorpio was intended as a far more luxurious car than the Granada, so features such as leather upholstery, electrically adjustable seats, h ...

 | | | 1985: Encyclopedia II - Walter Payton - 1985Although Walter Payton was a legitimate superstar and an icon in the city of Chicago, he played on some awful Bears teams. That changed in 1985. In 1985, the Bears had an incredible season, going 15-1 in the regular season (with their only blemish being an embarrassing loss to the Miami Dolphins on Monday Night Football in the 13th week). The Bears bounced back and finished strongly, then, augmented by a song Bears members recorded c ...

 | | | 1985: Encyclopedia II - Mazda 323 - 1985The 1985 323 again featured a 1.5 L engine. It was available as a hatchback, sedan and wagon (this time also front wheel drive). The Ford Laser version of this model also formed the basis of the Mercury Tracer.
The model remained in production in South Africa until 2003, as an entry level model, also being sold as the Ford Tonic, and was briefly sold in the UK as the Sao Penza. A locally designed pick-up called the Hustler was also produced, and sold as the Ford Bantam.
