Electronic Voice Phenomena

Juergenson was a film producer in Sweden who, in 1959 while making a documentary, had decided to tape bird songs. As he began recording, little did he realize that what was to follow would change the course of not only his earthly life but of that he would lead in the world beyond after his death. When he played the tape back he was startled to hear, in among the tweeting and chirping, his mother's voice say in German, "Friedrich, you are being watched. Friedel, my little Friedel, can you hear me?"

In it, Irving tried to describe the war from “Hitler’s point of view.” He painted a favorable picture of Hitler - as one would if describing it from Hitler's own view as Hitler saw himself to be supreme, so painting him in a negative light while doing it from his own point of view would be self sabotage - portraying him as a rational, intelligent politician, whose only goal was to increase Germany’s prosperity ...

1977 - September: Encyclopedia II - History of Paris - Ancient Paris

The area of modern Paris has been inhabited since at least the fourth millennium BC, although little is known about these early inhabitants. The first known permanent settlement on the site was founded about 250 BC by a Celtic tribe called the Parisii, who established a fishing village on the Seine island that was later to become the Ile de la Cité. This was known as Lutetia, a name first recorded by Julius Caesar in his Gallic Wars. Lutetia was a prosperous place and occupied a very strategic position on the river, controllin ...

1977 - September: Encyclopedia II - 1970s - Social movements

1970s - Environmentalism. The seventies touched off a mainstream affirmation of the environmental issues early activists from the '60s, such as Rachel Carson, warned about. The moon landing that had occurred at the end of the previous decade transmitted back concrete images of the earth as an integrated, life-supporting system and shaped a public willingness to preserve nature. On April 22, 1970, the United States celebrated its first Earth Day in which over two thousand colleges and universities and roughly ten thousand p ...

In Northern Ireland, the SAS was involved from the early days in what became known as 'The Troubles', which started in 1969. Indeed, in the early days of The Troubles they operated openly in uniform wearing the SAS sand-coloured beret with the winged dagger cap badge. They were involved in Operation Flavius in Gibraltar in which three unarmed IRA members (including a woman) were killed. The three killed had been intending to detonate a bomb during a ceremonial event. According to the soldiers involved, they moved their hands to their pockets ...
