1960s - People: Encyclopedia II - 1960s - Events and trends

Many of the trends of the 1960s were due to the demographic changes brought about by the baby boom generation, the height of the Cold War, and the dissolution of European colonial empires. 1960s - People: Your Brain and Neurofeedback - A Beginner's Manual

Biofeedback as a field has been growing since the late 1960s. This form of training and treatment uses monitoring instruments attached to the body to "feed back" to people information on the functioning of their bodies. In this way, people view information of which they are not normally aware, such as hand temperature, blood pressure, number and depth of breaths being taken, level of muscle tension in any target muscle, or the electrical activity of their brains. It has been established that, once people have more detailed access to information on what their bodies are doing, they are able to either consciously or subconsciously alter or control those functions.

1960s - People: Encyclopedia II - Sino-Indian relations - Geographical overview

China and India have historically been isolated from each other by the formidable geographical obstacles of the Tibetan Plateau and the Himalayan mountain chain. In pre-modern times, Tibet has served as a buffer region between the two. In modern times, the People's Republic of China and India share a border along the Himalayas. Two buffer states continue to exist in the form of Nepal and Bhutan; both states lie along the Himalaya range. Additionally, the disputed Kashmir province (jointly claimed by India and Pakistan) borders both the PRC and India. As Pakistan has tense relations with India, ...

1960s - People: Encyclopedia II - John F. Kennedy - Criticism

Kennedy is among the most popular former presidents of the United States; however, a number of critics argue that his reputation is largely undeserved. Although he was young and charismatic, he had little chance to achieve much during his presidency. Under this reasoning, his immense popularity results from the fact that his short time in office was marked by the optimistic beginnings of many programs declared to be of great benefit to the United States, its people, and various global issues. Unlike the tenures of other U.S. presidents, Kenn ...
