 |  |  | 1951 - August: Encyclopedia - William Randolph HearstWilliam Randolph Hearst (April 29, 1863 – August 14, 1951) was an American newspaper magnate, born in San Francisco, California.
William Randolph was the only child of George Hearst, a successful miner who became a multi-millionaire, and later U.S. Senator from California, and Phoebe Apperson Hearst, a former school teacher from Missouri. While his father was busy losing and re-gaining fortunes, young William toured Europe with his mother. He was enrolled in St. Paul's School in Concord, New Hampshire at the age of 15.

 |  |  | 1951 - August: Encyclopedia II - Howlin' Wolf - CareerHowlin' Wolf quickly became a local celebrity, and soon began working with a band that included both Willie Johnson and guitarist Pat Hare. His first recordings came in 1951, when he was simultaneously signed to The Bihari Brothers' Modern Records and to Leonard Chess' Chess Records. Chess issued Howlin' Wolf's "How Many More Years" in August 1951; Wolf also recorded sides for Modern, with Ike Turner, in late 1951 and early 1952.
