| | | | | 1709: Encyclopedia II - Sessho and Kampaku - OverviewThe Sesshō and Kampaku had held the practical powers of the ruling emperor, conducting cloistered rule until shogunates took over the power from them. Most empresses had Sesshō with some exceptions in the ancient period.

Louis came from a multicultural background since his paternal grandparents were Henry IV and Marie de' Medici, who were French and Italian. His maternal grandfather, Philip III was of Spanish descent and his mate ...

| | | | 1709: Encyclopedia II - Lifter ionic propulsion device - How it worksThe Lifter effect is a form of electrokinetics or, in modern terms, electrohydrodynamics propulsion. In its basic form, the Lifter is able to produce forces great enough to lift up a few grams of payload, but its use is restricted to a tethered model. Lifters capable of payloads in the order of a few grams usually need to be powered by power sources and high voltage converters weighing a few kilograms, so although its simplistic design makes it an excellent way to experiment with this technology, it is unlikely a fully autonomous Lifter will ...

| | | | | | 1709: Encyclopedia II - Military history of Imperial Russia - Napoleonic Wars and the Decembrists' RevoltAs a major European power, Russia could not escape the wars involving revolutionary and Napoleonic France. Paul became an adamant opponent of France, and Russia joined Britain and Austria in a war against France. Further, Alexander Pope noted that Arbuthnot allowed his infant children to play with, and even burn, his writings.
