Parsoma - Early life.
Saint Parsoma the Naked, the great saint who was perfect in the love of God, departed on the 5th day of the Little Month (Koji Enavot) (10th of September) of the year 1033 A.D. Saint Parsoma was born in Egypt (Cairo). His father, called El-Wageeh Moufdel, was the scribe of the Queen "Shagaret El-dor", and his mother was from the family of El-Taban. When his parents departed, his uncle took possession of all that they had left. Saint Parsoma did not quarrel with him but forsook the world and lived the life of the righteous hermits.

However, the extant St. Georgskapelle (St George's Chapel) is believed to date from the 10th century. In 1017 Henry II, Holy Roman Emperor and his queen Cunigunde of Luxemburg founded a Benedictine convent, perched on the steep edge of the Losse valley above what is now the centre of Oberkaufungen. Upon the death of her husband, Cunigunde entered the convent, and lived there until her death in 1033 or 1039. The Reformation brought the closure of the convent in 1527, but the large church (the Stiftskirche) is still standing ...
